Meet Dr Hui-Wen Tina Teng
Special interests: Women’s health, family planning, paediatric medicine, minor surgical procedures, chronic diseases and geriatric medicine.
Dr Teng’s medical career began with the completion of a double degree in Chinese Medicine (herbal medicine) / human biology at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourne, with clinical placement at the Nanjing University Hospital, China.
Dr Teng subsequently pursued further studies and completed her postgraduate medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin. She was awarded the following degrees of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of the Arts of Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO).
She gained extensive experience in emergency medicine, paediatric, neonatal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology at the Box Hill Hospital after completing her internship in Tasmania.
Ultimately, her calling led her to further training with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, working in rural areas and areas of need before qualifying as a Fellow.
Her special interests include women’s health, family planning, paediatric medicine, addiction medicine and minor surgical procedures. Her experience of working in rural settings has imbued skills in providing comprehensive care to the community.
Dr Teng is passionate in offering a holistic approach utilising both Western and Chinese medicine to the best interest of her patients.
Dr Teng is well-versed in English, Mandarin/Taiwanese
Those close to Dr Teng describes her as a caring and attentive person, devoting her energies to helping others. She is known to be selfless and thoughtful.
When not working, she enjoys spending time with her young family, travelling, going for nature walks and trying new cuisines.
