Pricing/Fees
All appointments on Monday to Friday will attract a $40 gap fee for patients aged 16 and over (except healthcare card holders who will incur a $22 gap).
All appointments on Saturdays will attract a $40 gap fee for patients of ALL AGES.
The following patients will continue to be bulk-billed to Medicare for general consultations with no gap fee on:
WEEKDAYS:
- Patients aged under 16
- Patients aged 68 or over (with a pension card)
- Appointments for COVID/Flu vaccines
We are very committed to providing high quality care to our patients and community. The reason for the introduction of a gap fee for some patients, is the rising costs of running a general practice and the reluctance of the government in funding these higher costs.
Non-Attendance / Cancellation Policy
Please note that if you do not attend your appointment and fail to notify reception at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled time, a non-attendance will be recorded in your file. After two missed appointments, a $50 non-attendance fee will apply. This fee must be paid before any future appointments can be booked with a practitioner.

FAQs
Everything you need to know about Leichhardt Medical Centre
-
Can I just call for a script or referral?
No, all requests to a GP require an appointment. This is the standard practice of all the GPs at this clinic.
-
My GP is always running late, why do I have to book an appointment?
While we understand waiting can be frustrating, the clinic has limited control over appointment durations, as some cases require more time. Patients are encouraged to book longer appointments for multiple issues or mental health concerns. You can call reception for updates on your GP's schedule on the day of your appointment.
-
If my appointment is quick/following up results do I still need to pay the gap fee?
Yes, we are a mixed billing clinic, so a gap fee applies to every consultation that does not meet bulk bill criteria. Each appointment is allocated time in the doctor's schedule, regardless of its nature.
-
If there's no available appointments online can I still call and get an appointment?
Our GPs do not accept walk-ins. You can call reception to be placed on a cancellation list. For urgent matters, our nursing team can triage and assess if emergency care is necessary.
-
Can I fit my family member into my appointment?
No, each patient needs to be allocated their own appointment slot. Even if you believe it will be a quick consultation, the doctor has mandatory checks that they will need to complete for each patient they see, as well as patient notes. This in turn makes GPs run late for other patients and can compromise care.
