Meet Dr Sohel Kashem
Dr Sohel Kashem is an experienced General Practitioner who focuses on family health and patient-centred care where he enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life including indigenous and ethnic multicultural backgrounds.
After completing MBBS in 1989 in Bangladesh, he moved to New Zealand in 1995 and worked in various hospitals in different specialties.In 2011, he completed his post graduate speciality training and was a made a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Dr Kashem is passionate about learning and has been involved in training junior doctors and has particular interest in acute/chronic care and elderly and children’s health. He moved to Australia in 2022 to be closer to his children and gained his fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners whilst working in Kambu Health which enabled him to provide culturally safe primary health care of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Dr Kashem can speak fluent Bengali and understands Hindi, enjoys spending time with children, fishing, watching the cricket and is a keen badminton player.
