Meet Dr Rena Chen
Dr Rena Chen enjoys the diversity of general practice and is able to provide care from newborns to elderly patients.
She has special interests in preventative healthcare, adolescent health, pregnancy planning, chronic disease management and mental health.
She is also proficient in procedures such as skin biopsies, wound dressings, implanon insertion/removal, and more.
Dr Rena grew up around inner west Sydney. She completed first degree in Medical Science at the University of Sydney with first class Honours.
Her thesis was focused on creating a novel animal model for Parkinson Disease. She then obtained a postgraduate Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery in 2012, undertaking exchange positions in Vietnam and Taiwan during her degree.
Dr Rena has worked across a range of hospitals in Sydney including Nepean Hospital, St George Hospital, Long Bay Hospital and Sutherland Hospital, obtaining experience in various areas of medicine including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology, Neurology and Psychiatry.
She found her calling in General Practice and has worked across rural NSW as well as metropolitan Sydney before being awarded a Fellowship by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Dr Rena is passionate about patient education, practicing up-to-date evidence-based Medicine, and empowering patients to manage their health. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, yoga, and rock climbing.
