Dr Prof Peter Jones
MBBS, PhD, FRACP, DCH, Consultant Paediatrician, Dean of Medicine, Bond University
Special interests: Developmental and Behavioural problems, ADHA, ASD, Depression and Anxiety, Special needs children, Asthma and Allergies, Infant feeding problems.
Professor Peter Jones graduated from the University of Sydney in 1987. He trained in Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle and London. As a consultant paediatrician, he has held consultant appointments at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, Tamworth and Roma Base Hospitals and more recently Gold Coast University Hospital in 2008.
Professor Jones’ special interests include:
- Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics including ADHD, ASD, Depression and Anxiety and School Learning Difficulties.
- Children with special needs and multiple disabilities (e.g. cerebral palsy and epilepsy)
- Asthma and Allergies
- Assessment of Infant Feeding Problems and following up premature infants.
- Working with Children in Substitute Care and those children who have been exposed to domestic violence and abuse.
Professor Jones relocated to the Gold Coast in 2008. He has been the Dean of the Medical Program at Bond University for the last five years.
Professor Jones is a family man and has five children of his own aged from 13 to 23. He appreciates the importance of spending time with families to help them understand their child. Professor Jones has set his fees at well below the recommended AMA rates to ensure that his services are accessible to the community. He will be delighted to see children from birth through to 16 years of age on referral from you family doctor or nurse practitioner.
Initial appointments are 30 minutes for a single problem and 45-60 minutes for complex problems. Follow up appointments are for 30 minutes.
