Meet Dr Nixon Tan
Dr Nixon Tan (M.D., BSc) completed his Bachelor of Biomedical Science in the National University of Singapore in 2016 and went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 2019. He further worked in infectious disease research in Austin Hospital, publishing papers on antibiotic allergy prior to his graduation. Following his graduation, Dr Nixon went to Singapore for a year in view of his scholarship working at the National University Hospital and KK Women's and Children's Hospital. Subsequently, he returned to Australia working in Queensland where he had the rest of his hospital training time at tertiary teaching hospitals such as Greenslopes and Logan as well as rural hospitals in Goondiwindi and Kingaroy. He has undergone rotations in adult and pediatric emergency, general surgery and medicine, geriatrics and rehabilitation, oncology and palliative care as well as extended rotations in cardiology and coronary care.
Since his hospital time, Dr Nixon has been undergoing training in general practice through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has worked as a registrar 6 months prior to returning to Brisbane. His philosophy when it comes to his patients is to always listen and understand their concerns. He strives to be not only easy to talk to but a compassionate and thorough doctor aiming to build good doctor-patient relationships and help them get good quality care with a focus on preventative health. Dr Nixon is also bilingual in both English and Mandarin with 2 years of military experience in Singapore. Outside of work he enjoys cooking, working out and board games.
