Meet Dr Matthew Hoo
Dr. Matthew Hoo is a fully qualified General Practitioner from Malaysia, who has practiced medicine in Australia for the past 14 years. He speaks English and Bahasa fluently, and although he can only speak simple Mandarin, he is happy to see Mandarin-speaking patients. Dr. Hoo is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, where he served for 5 years in metropolitan Melbourne, followed by 9 years in general practice in the rural and regional communities of North East Victoria and South NSW.
In this time, he has had 4 years of postgraduate training in adult internal medicine, giving him an appreciation of the complexities of clinical diagnostics, the role of specialists, and their pharmacological interventions. His 9 years of general practice in rural and regional areas has taught him to competently diagnose and manage many conditions where hospitals and specialists are not easily accessible.
He is passionate about medical education and is accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to teach and supervise postgraduate doctors in GP training. He is also accredited to supervise and teach medical students from the University of Melbourne.
He has a special interest in diagnostics, holistic medicine, adult medicine, mental health (and psychiatry), pain management and patient advocacy. He prides himself in having good communication between his patients and their managing specialists, desiring to foster collaboration to achieve the best health outcomes possible for them.
