Meet Karen Mooibroek
Karen is an APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist with over 20 years experience working with elite athletes and teams both in Australia, UK and Qatar. Karen completed a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy at the Australian Institute of Sport in 1999 and since then has worked at some of the world’s leading sports medicine centres including Pure Sports Medicine, UK and Aspetar, Qatar.
Karen has worked with NSWIS and AIS athletes as well as West Tigers RFLC before going overseas to be Head Physiotherapist for the London Broncos RLFC and then on to Aspetar, Qatar. Aspetar is a world leading Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital that is a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence and an IOC Research Centre that attracts the world’s best clinicians and researchers. Karen worked at Aspetar for 9 years with an International Team from 65 countries, returning to Australia in 2016.
Karen also has extensive postgraduate training in shoulder injuries and rehabilitation from the Aspetar Shoulder Specialisation Program. Karen has an interest in ‘Sports Injuries in the Young Athlete’ and also enjoys working with those from the Performing Arts.
Outside of seeing patients Karen enjoys learning about other cultures and has travelled extensively.
