    Meet Helen Ng

Helen is a caring and compassionate multilingual psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. She provides interventions for a wide range of psychological issues including adjustment disorder, anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, psychosis, mood and thought disorders, personality disorders, life transitions, identity and self-esteem issues, relationship issues, cross-cultural issues, and work-related issues. She also provides career coaching and career planning, pre-marriage counselling, couples counselling, parenting advice, and Christian counselling.

Helen deals with complex mental health conditions in a culturally sensitive manner. She is supportive, empathetic, patient and respectful. She is highly experienced in treating people from various backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse individuals across the lifespan. Helen also conducts psychometric tests and assessments for children (aged 6 and up), adolescents, adults, elderly, as well as people with neurodevelopmental disorders. In addition, she also offers comprehensive report-writing services. Her experience includes writing reports for cognitive assessments, and immigration purposes, as well as reports to support applications for Centrelink payments and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Helen is driven by a strong desire to help others and make a difference. Her clients trust her with their personal stories, knowing that their voices will be heard with undivided attention. She is calm, gentle and understanding. She sees therapy as a great honour and privilege and she is humbled each time a client shares their vulnerabilities with her. She does not take any of it for granted; she deeply values each client’s trust and treat them with the utmost respect. Helen provides a safe and non-judgemental environment for her clients. She works collaboratively with them to create a personalised treatment plan that meets their individual needs and goals. She aims to help her clients gain strength and freedom from their pain and struggles, as well as find hope, meaning and purpose in their lives.

Helen takes a flexible and integrative approach, using different techniques and interventions to suit the needs and preferences of each client. She draws from a wide range of evidenced-based interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused therapy. She also often uses psychoeducation, supportive counselling, positive psychology, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy.

One of her favourite quotes is by Reinhold Niebuhr,

“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
