Meet Andrew Gong
Andrew is an experienced Orthopaedic surgeon based in Melbourne. He completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and finished his Orthopaedic Surgical training though the Victorian training Program before becoming a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005. He also underwent further training internationally with fellowships in the UK and Canada.
He has been a consultant surgeon at Austin Health since 2007 and has also worked at the Alfred Trauma Centre and Monash Health (current). He holds teaching faculty positions for training courses for junior doctors such as AO Trauma, AO reconstruction (joint replacement), OTC and EMST.
Andrew is a hip and knee surgeon with an interest in advanced technology surgery. This includes:
- Robotic hip and knee replacements
- Partial knee replacements
- Anterior Approach and muscle sparing Posterior Hip approaches
- Revision hip and knee surgery
- Sports medicine including knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstructions
- Trauma
He believes in treating patients with a considered evidence-based approach coupled with a quest to understand the individual and their particular needs. He also participates in enhanced recovery/early discharge programs for joint replacement.
