Dr Peter Lorenz
MBBS, DObstRCOG, FRACGP
Dr Peter Lorenz attained his medical degree at the University of New South Wales and has over 46 years in medical practice and 23 years of full time general practice experience including 8 years of obstetrics in general practice. He has previously worked as a sports medicine doctor with Australian National Soccer Teams and as a Medical Team Volunteer at the Sydney Olympic Games (2000). He has maintained a long term involvement in teaching and research through various university appointments and the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). He has been a senior examiner and quality control examiner for the RACGP and became a life member in 2011. He is a life member of the Kuring-Gai District Medical Association since 2017 and committee member since 2007.
He has written the medical student handbook “Differential Diagnosis” (published 2003-2007, 4 editions and 50,000 copies) and published medical journal articles, most recently contributing to the article “The hormonal effects of the menstrual cycle on the young female singing voice” with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He worked with Medicare Australia for 13 years as a medical adviser and holds a current (second) appointment to the Professional Services Review panel from the Federal Health Minister. He is an experienced senior lecturer with the University of Sydney School of Medicine.
He is married to Maree Ryan AM, a senior lecturer in the Vocal and Opera Studies Unit at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has two adult daughters. His hobbies include his grandchildren, soccer, books and movies.
