As Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Myhealth Medical Group, Dr Ong brings almost two decades of valuable primary health care experience to the group.
Upon attaining his Fellowship in 2004, Dr Ong assumed the role of practice principal and owner of a family practice in the Inner West of Sydney. During his 12 year tenure, he successfully transformed the antiquated but highly regarded practice into an efficient, computerised and accredited practice that continues to uphold its reputation for providing high quality patient centred care. In 2014, Dr Ong joined Myhealth as co-partner and principal at Myhealth Central Park, and thereafter formed part of the management team responsible for the consolidation of the Myhealth Medical Centres into the Myhealth Medical Group in 2015. With his strengths in people engagement, Dr Ong took on the role of HR Director and was charged with doctor recruitment and developing effective support services. One of his key achievements has been setting up the highly successful Myhealth GP Registrar Training Program, reinforcing his commitment to GP Registrar development and training, as a GP Synergy Supervisor and RACGP examiner. Dr Ong continues to enjoy undertaking clinical work and consults at various practices within the Myhealth Medical Group. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Hons) from the University of New South Wales, and a Diploma of Child Health (Westmead Children’s Hospital). He is a Felllow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and is a member of the Australian Medical Association. His special interests lie in the areas of paediatrics, mental health and preventative health care, but as a general practitioner, he recognises the broad and pivotal role that general practice plays as the cornerstone of the health care system.
